43.56.فَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ سَلَفاً وَمَثَلاً لِلْآخِرِينَ

43.56 . And We made them a thing past , and an example for those after ( them ) .

43.56. FajaAAalnahum salafan wamathalan lil-akhireena

43.56. y sentamos con ellos un precedente, poniéndolos como ejemplo para la posteridad.

43.57.وَلَمَّا ضُرِبَ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ مَثَلاً إِذَا قَوْمُكَ مِنْهُ يَصِدُّونَ

43.57 . And when the son of Mary is quoted as an example , behold! the folk laugh out ,

43.57. Walamma duriba ibnu maryama mathalan itha qawmuka minhu yasiddoona

43.57. Y cuando el hijo de María es puesto como ejemplo, he aquí que tu pueblo se aparta de él.

43.58.وَقَالُوا أَآلِهَتُنَا خَيْرٌ أَمْ هُوَ مَا ضَرَبُوهُ لَكَ إِلَّا جَدَلاً بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ خَصِمُونَ

43.58 . And say : Are our gods better , or is he? They raise not the objection save for argument . Nay! but they are a contentious folk .

43.58. Waqaloo aalihatuna khayrun am huwa ma daraboohu laka illa jadalan bal hum qawmun khasimoona

43.58. Y dicen: ¿Son mejores nuestros dioses o él? Si te lo ponen, no es sino por afán de discutir. Son, en efecto, gente contenciosa.

43.59.إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا عَبْدٌ أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَجَعَلْنَاهُ مَثَلاً لِّبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ

43.59 . He is nothing but a slave on whom We bestowed favor , and We made him a pattern for the Children of Israel .

43.59. In huwa illa AAabdun anAAamna AAalayhi wajaAAalnahu mathalan libanee isra-eela

43.59. El no es sino un siervo a quien hemos agraciado y a quien hemos puesto como ejemplo a los Hijos de Israel.

43.60.وَلَوْ نَشَاء لَجَعَلْنَا مِنكُم مَّلَائِكَةً فِي الْأَرْضِ يَخْلُفُونَ

43.60 . And had We willed We could have set among you angels to be viceroys in the earth .

43.60. Walaw nashao lajaAAalna minkum mala-ikatan fee al-ardi yakhlufoona

43.60. Si quisiéramos, haríamos de vosotros ángeles, que sucederían en la tierra.
