On Tuesday, the Marrakech police prefecture arrested a French national of Algerian descent who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the French judiciary, according to a security source.
The 44-year-old suspect was taken into custody following a routine check in the Interpol database, which revealed a red notice issued by French authorities for his alleged involvement in an international drug trafficking network.
Preliminary investigations suggest the man is wanted by French judicial authorities for his role, between 2020 and 2021, in organizing international drug trafficking operations to southern France.
He has been placed under extradition-related procedures and will be presented to the public prosecutor, the same source added. French security authorities have been notified of his arrest.
