Last night, the Criminal Chamber of the Casablanca Court of Appeal ruled to summon several prominent figures to testify in the high-profile «Sahara Escobar» case on July 10.

According to al3omk news website, among those summoned is famous Moroccan singer Latifa Raafat, the former wife of the main defendant, Malian drug trafficker Haj Ben Brahim.

The court also called on Abdelwahid Chaouki, a current Member of Parliament for the Authenticity and Modernity Party, as well as the son of Said Naciri, the former president of the Wydad Casablanca football club, who is currently in detention in connection with the same case.

The decision to summon these individuals follows a request made by lawyer Mohammed El Houssaini Karrout, who is representing the defendant Abdenbi Bioui, at the conclusion of his client’s hearing session.

In addition, the court issued summonses for Bioui’s ex-wife and her mother, along with several other witnesses.
