Police in Marrakech apprehended two French nationals of Moroccan origin on Tuesday, aged 28 and 36, for their alleged involvement in a hit-and-run accident and public intoxication, coupled with refusing to comply with police orders, according to a security source.
The driver in question caused a traffic accident, injuring a road user before fleeing the scene and ignoring police instructions. He was driving his car through the narrow streets of Marrakech's old medina in a manner that endangered people and property, the same source indicated. The incident was documented in a video recording shared on social media.
The police intervention led to the arrest of the heavily intoxicated driver and his companion, both of whom were taken into custody.
