في السنة الثامنة للهجرة، قاد الرسول محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم جيشا كبيرا من المدينة المنورة باتجاه مكة، بعد أن نقضت قريش صلح الحديبية، ودخل مكة دون قتال، وأعلن العفو عن أهلها، ليشكل بذلك هذا الحدث تحولا كبيرا في التاريخ الإسلامي.
